MÉRIDA
For those guests interested in venturing further, Mérida is just a 20-minute drive from the resort. The city of Mérida is a cultural center, with numerous museums, art galleries, restaurants, theatres and shops that come alive at night with music and dancing. The streets of Mérida are lined with beautiful colonial buildings. The famous avenue, Paseo de Montejo, is adorned with original sculptures.
CELESTÚN
Celestún Natural Reserve is a great option for a day trip (1.5 hour drive). It is located western end of the state of Yucatan, on the coasts of the Gulf of Mexico. Guests will find a sleepy fishing town gifted with nice beaches, surrounded by the Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve, internationally recognized as wildlife sanctuary of winter teaming with flamingos and many other bird species and marine life.
CENOTES
The natural wonders of The Yucatán are innumerable and some of the most important and unusual are the cenotes, or natural sinkholes where you can swim, snorkel and even dive to discover a new world. These underground caverns, pools and rivers used to be sacred to the Mayans. In the village of Chocholá, there is “The Cenote San Ignacio”; a safe place and ideal for swimming in its transparent, turquoise waters. Found inside a cavern, there is artificial lighting.
CHICHEN ITZÁ
It is one of the Seven New Wonders of the World and one of the most important cities of the ancient Mayan civilization located in the heart of Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Learn about the Pyramid of Kukulcan, also called El Castillo, and witness the equinox phenomenon in March and September. The archaeological buildings such as the Ossuary, the Observatory, Las Monjas Group and the Sacred Cenote- used to be a sacred place for sacrifices – are some of the elements you will find in this archeological site.
CHABLE SPA
Chablé Spa provides an intimate setting of tranquility, sophistication, and customization. The setting and elements used in authentic Mayan Ceremony, allows for a deep connection and profoundly moving experience as an initiation into the Chablé Healing Culture. Chable offers a space where ancient mysticism blends with modern curiosity to bring about a new vocabulary of well-being.
